Staff from RBS International have committed to better their 2010 fund raising total in 2011 with their ‘charity a week’ initiative.

Last year staff committed to make a contribution to a different charity every week of the year and raised nearly £10,000 through their own regular donations, mufti days, quiz nights, cake sales, raffles and various other creative ideas. The largest single donation was over £500 to the Haiti Disaster Appeal with the average donation just over £200.

There were some funds still in the pot at the end of the year and it was agreed that these should be divided between twelve worthy causes, in the spirit of the twelve days of Christmas.

Peter Fernandez, Corporate Director, commented:

“Most of our staff willingly make a regular monthly donation to our fund raising effort and are invited to nominate a cause they would like to benefit. They are encouraged to come up with innovative and engaging ways of boosting the coffers and ultimately make a difference to the local community. It’s great for morale, extremely rewarding and we are determined that each year will be an improvement on the previous year’s total.”
